Wicked World Tours are a charity set up to facilitate adventurous travel and ‘gap year’ opportunities for disabled people. They are currently looking at the feasibility of purchasing and adapting a vehicle as a mobile home to allow disabled people to travel with family, friends or carers in a fully accessible vehicle.  The vehicle would go some way to overcoming the common barriers of inaccessible accommodation and difficult travel whilst on an adventure holiday.

Excerpts from the Wicked World Tour website (http://www.wickedworldtour.com/)
“We flew into Washington DC on the 24th June, and over the next 10 weeks we travelled through New York, Niagara, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, and down through California to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and finally Cancun in Mexico, before returning home to Scotland on the 7th September. “

“We were thrilled to have to pack away all foodstuffs in bear-proof lockers and were even more thrilled when we saw some bears later in the week, fortunately not at our lockers. Some people used the accessible shuttle bus in the park and we were able to walk or drive to some incredible viewpoints. Often deer would walk in front of us and there were squirrels that watched for any crumbs from the table.”

Research is being carried out by Community Enterprise to establish if there is enough interest for this kind of holiday to consider the purchase of the vehicle. They are keen to find out the views of disabled people, particularly young people, about the length of holidays they would be interested in; whether they need to have accompanying carers etc. To that end, an online survey has been put together and they would like to encourage as many people as possible to take the time to fill it in. It will only take a few minutes to complete. Responses should be completed by the end of February 2009.

Over the years the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Ayrshire and Arran has benefited to the tune of many hundreds of pounds from the generosity of the Ayrshire public especially in the bright orange collection cans in shops, pubs, etc.

We would like to ask any businesses if they would be willing to help us by placing one of our collection cans in a prominent place within their premises. We are a local charity run entirely by volunteers with all monies raised staying in Ayrshire and Arran to help people with Multiple Sclerosis.  We would like to thank all of our existing supporters for their continued help.

Since we are also upgrading and re-labelling our cans, please contact us to arrange a replacement.

For any queries relating to our collecting cans please contact Carolyn MacIsaac on 01292 471476.

Thank you for sending us this information.
