The annual golf day at Seafield raised a very handsome £2,950 for this memorial fund which supports young people affected b MS. Since its inception in 2011 it has raised almost £40,000 from its golf days and donations from the wider community . In that time, a total of £22,500 has been disbursed in awards to 62 youngsters throughout Ayrshire to enhance their education and employment opportunities. This includes £5,500 in the bursary scheme started in 2014. The grants have been directed, for example, at driving lessons for youngsters , out of hours school activities and provision of, Ipads, laptops etc for home use to support learning. Recently, an award was made for fees for advance dancing lessons to a young promising boy in Kilmarnock – perhaps Ayrshire’s next Billy Elliot.
The scheme is run jointly by the Dickie family and friends and the local Branch of the MS Society who matches approved grants on a £ for £ basis. It is restricted to Ayrshire and Arran, minimum application forms and is not means tested. Enquiries are welcomed
